🎄 Meet Mr Christmas: Wiltshire’s Most Festive Resident

Updated: Aug 6

Some people count down to Christmas.Andy Park lives it.

Since 14th July 1993, this Melksham local — affectionately known as Mr Christmas — has celebrated the most wonderful time of the year every single day. Not just in spirit. Literally. Turkey dinners, tinsel, presents, sherry, the Queen’s Speech — the whole lot.

And he’s still going.

A Festive Idea That Never Ended

It started as a bit of fun. A single day in July where Andy thought, why wait for December? He loved Christmas — the food, the joy, the sparkle — so why not bring that cheer into summer?

One day became a week. A week became a year. And over thirty years later, Mr Christmas is still donning his Santa hat and carving turkey like it’s Christmas morning.

He’s not pretending. This is his actual lifestyle.

What Does a Day Look Like?

Each day begins with mince pies for breakfast, followed by opening a wrapped gift (yes, he buys and wraps them himself). Then comes the full Christmas roast: turkey, roast potatoes, stuffing, vegetables — the works. A glass of sherry and a rerun of the Queen’s Speech (or now the King’s) usually cap off the evening.

And yes, his house is permanently decorated. Fairy lights, tinsel, Christmas cards — all year round. If you visited in June, you'd be forgiven for thinking you’d time-travelled to December.

More Than Just a Quirk

Andy Park isn’t just Wiltshire’s most festive resident. He’s a bona fide local legend.

Over the years, he’s been featured on the BBC, ITV, Channel 5, and in newspapers around the world. He even released a Christmas single in 2005 — because of course he did.

Locals in Melksham know him as more than a novelty. He’s a reminder that joy doesn’t need a date on a calendar. That you can choose to wake up every day and celebrate something, even if no one else is.

So… Why?

When asked why he keeps doing it, Andy has always had a simple answer:“Because it makes me happy.”

And that’s really it, isn’t it? In a world full of stress, division, and endless to-do lists, one man in Wiltshire chose joy — and stuck with it.

If you ever find yourself near Melksham and spot someone in a Santa jumper in the middle of July…That’s Mr Christmas. And for him, the season of goodwill never ends.
